How to apply for a graduate minor in Parent and Family Education
Eligibility and instructions
You’re eligible to pursue a graduate minor in Parent and Family Education if you’re actively pursuing another master’s or doctoral degree at the University of Minnesota.
Master's students
If you’re a master’s degree student, you must declare a minor prior to your final exam or capstone.
Doctoral students
If you’re a doctoral student, you must declare a minor prior to passing your doctoral program’s preliminary oral exam.
How to declare the minor
Declaring the Parent and Family Education graduate Minor can easily be done online.
- Sign in to MyU
- Go to onestop.umn.edu
- At the top of the page, click on "Forms" Under Forms, click on "Academic Status"
- Under Academic Status, click on "Graduate Minor Request" (This will launch the form. Your name and primary degree program information will auto-fill on the form.)
- Go to the section "Add a Minor" and type in the field "Parent and Family Education Graduate Minor"
- After you submit the form, please send an email to famed@umn.edu to indicate you’ve initiated the Minor Request.
