FSoS launches new online Graduate Minor in Parent and Family Education

The Parent and Family Education program in the Department of Family Social Science has added a new opportunity for graduate students who are passionate about working with families. The fully online Graduate Minor in Parent and Family Education is tailored for students pursuing careers that involve working with families across a wide variety of settings.

The program of study is designed to deepen students' understanding of families in both educational and community contexts, strengthen leadership skills, and provides a career-enhancing credential for those in the private or non-profit early care and education fields.

"Graduate students in programs such as early childhood education, speech and language pathology, social work, public health, public policy, and related fields will find this minor valuable," says Shannon Rader, Parent and Family Education Program Director and Lecturer. "Understanding how diverse family dynamics grow and change over the life course is great preparation for a number of careers."
