Honoring Pauline Boss, FSOS Professor Emeritus

A professor emeritus in the Department of Family Social Science, Pauline Boss is an internationally recognized scholar, educator, and family therapist. Her research centered on theories that she came to identify as ambiguous loss. This work is based on decades of scholarship and clinical practice with individuals and families who have been traumatized by chronic illnesses and disabilities (e.g., alcoholism, head injuries), human-caused atrocities and suffering (e.g., war, terrorism), and national disasters (e.g., tsunamis, earthquakes).
