FSOS staff and faculty honored with CEHD awards at Spring Assembly

Faculty and staff in Family Social Science were honored for their excellence in service of students and the university with College of Education and Human Development Awards presented at the Spring Assembly.   

Chalandra Bryant, professor and Pauline Boss Faculty Fellow, was honored with the Excellence in Research Award, which recognizes "significant contributions to scholarship in the field, at the national or international level and active support of new researchers (other faculty, graduate students, or undergraduates)."

Kirsten Collins was recognized with the Excellence in Academic Advising Award, that honors "excellence in student development, knowledge of academic alternatives, and the ability to create a welcoming environment which supports students." 

Timothy Piehler, associate professor, was honored with the Distinguished Teaching Award, that honors accomplishments in teaching and advising, academic innovation and program development, and evidence of impact on students.

Xiaoran Sun, assistant professor, was recognized with the WPLC Rising Star Award that " recognizes a 'Rising Star' pre-tenure faculty member who is committed to empowering women and demonstrating leadership and creativity through their academics, research, service, and/or teaching."

Lindsey Weiler, associate professor,  was honored with the Marty and Jack Rossmann Award that recognizes "a tenured faculty member who has demonstrated a truly exceptional level of creativity and productivity in scholarship, teaching and service, and who shows great promise of continuing such achievement."

In addition, CEHD Dean Michael Rodriguez recognized both Jodi Dworkin and Sara Axtell. Axtell was honored in 2023 with the University of Minnesota Outstanding Community Service Award, and Dworkin was honored with a 2024 President's Award for Outstanding Service.
